Covered CA

Covered California is the state’s official health insurance marketplace where you can buy name-brand health insurance — often at a lower cost. Many people qualify for financial help to make coverage more affordable.

What you’ll need to apply

  • Last year’s tax return
  • ID for each adult applying
  • Proof of citizenship or immigration status
  • Social Security numbers for all family members or dependents

When can you apply?

  • Open Enrollment: Once a year (dates vary, usually end of year)
  • Special Enrollment: Anytime you have a major life change — like losing a job, moving, getting married, or having a baby
  • Renewal Period: Typically starts mid-October. Review your current plan, update your information, or renew your coverage.

Health Plans accepted through Covered California

  • Anthem Blue Cross (HMO)
  • Blue Shield of CA (PPO)
  • Health Net (HMO)
  • L.A. Care (HMO)
  • Molina (HMO)

We also accept commercial plans

  • Anthem Blue Cross (HMO)
  • Blue Shield of CA (HMO, PPO)
  • CIGNA (HMO)
  • Health Net (HMO)
