Mammograms
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women regardless of race or ethnicity. Mammograms are an important tool for the early detection of breast cancer.
In 2009, the State Cancer Detection Program reduced funding for the Every Woman Counts Program, which paid for screening mammograms for low income women. With your support, we can continue to provide these life saving exams. A donation of $70 pays for one mammogram for a woman.

Reach Out and Read

Reach Out and Read (ROR) makes literacy promotion a standard part of pediatric care so that children grow up with books and a love of reading. ROR is a national program that encourages parents to read aloud daily to their children, distributing age and linguistically appropriate books to children at each routine medical checkup between 6 months and 5 years of age. Children growing up in middle class families are exposed to over 1,000 hours of one-on-one reading, whereas children from low income families are only exposed to 25 hours. Implemented in 2001 at one NEVHC health center, we now offer ROR at seven facilities, distributing about 10,000 books to low income children each year. A donation of $2.50 buys one book. Please help us help our littlest patients by donating now.
Transitions to Wellness

The consequences of not providing health care for the homeless are costly to everyone. Life on the streets places homeless individuals and families at a high risk for physical assault and/or a variety of communicable diseases. Untreated diseases often result in costly ER visits and hospitalizations.
NEVHC treats more than 2,000 homeless people every year, providing both preventive services and treatment of acute and chronic conditions. For more than 20 years, NEVHC has been providing these services at our licensed health center in North Hollywood that has now moved to Van Nuys. Additionally, our state-of-the art Mobile Clinic allows us to provide medical outreach and case management services at local churches, parks, health fairs and other sites for the homeless. Please help us serve these highly vulnerable patients by making a donation now.
