Well-child exams are recommended for monitoring your child’s health during their early years when growth and development occur quickly. At your child’s well-child exam you can expect our pediatric team to perform physical exams, developmental screenings, nutrition assessments and make sure that your child’s vaccinations are up-to-date.
Well-child exams are scheduled at regular intervals during the first two years of life, and then annually after the age of 3.
COVID-19 Update:
Well-child exams will be scheduled for either an in-person visit or telehealth visit depending on the age of the child. New patients who need a well-child exam will need to schedule an in-person visit.
We offer same-day sick child visits for children experiencing symptoms related to a cold, the flu, asthma or allergies. Our same-day appointments are also available for children with injuries.
COVID-19 Update: For the safety of your child and our staff, same-day sick child visits for children experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms will be scheduled virtually; if it is decided that your child needs to be seen in person, they will be scheduled at the end of the morning, afternoon or evening session. Our team will clean our health centers thoroughly at the end of each session.
Our pediatric patients receive high-quality medical care that will adapt to their needs as they grow to become healthy adults. Our pediatricians will diagnose and treat medical conditions that include injuries and infections or help parents understand how to manage delays in a child’s development. Our pediatricians will also provide school physicals, annual exams and check-ups.
Pediatric patients can receive dental care at any of our dental centers
in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys. Our pediatric dentists are trained to provide high-quality care for your child’s oral health needs. At our dental centers, our pediatric dentists will provide dental examinations, cleanings, fillings, sealants in a kid-friendly manner.
The WIC Program at NEVHC helps mothers and children access nutritious foods that support a healthy lifestyle. Our WIC educators and nutritionists work closely with parents to educate them about nutrition, breastfeeding and how to raise a healthy child.

NEVHC supports breastfeeding as the best nutritional choice for your baby. Our breastfeeding consultants and pediatricians will work closely with you to prepare you to feed your newborn and ensure that your baby is feeding well. We also offer multi-lingual breastfeeding support groups, breastfeeding pumps, and a multi-lingual breastfeeding helpline to answer your breastfeeding questions.
Pediatric asthma is a common chronic condition affecting 6.1 million children in the United States. While asthma cannot be cured, our asthma coordinators work with parents and children to develop a medication and treatment plan that will control asthma triggers so that children can live healthy and active lives.
Children experience stress and worry the same way that adults do. As we navigate the coronavirus pandemic, we can support children by providing them with accurate information and letting them know that they are important. Northeast Valley Health Corporation was incorporated in 1971 by a group of San Fernando Valley civic leaders who envisioned establishing a healthcare system that catered to the medical needs of the local community. They opened San Fernando Health Center in 1973 and celebrated its dedication with the late U.S. Senator Ted. Kennedy. Today, NEVHC has grown to 14 health centers in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys and continue to serve the uninsured and the medically underserved patients with limited financial resources. Nearly 70,000 patients receive medical, dental and behavioral health care at our health centers every year. NEVHC, one of the nation’s largest community health centers, is a nonprofit Joint Commission accredited Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
