More than 30 years after the AIDS virus was discovered, the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS reports that 36.7 million people worldwide are living with the disease. In the United States, there are 1.2 million people with the disease, and 1 in 8 do not know it. Northeast Valley Health Corporation (NEVHC) continues to assist in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS. Currently, servicing more than 750 patients, NEVHC provides more than 2,000 HIV tests each year. Early medical care and treatment is important. HIV screenings are available at all NEVHC health centers, and treatment is provided at Van Nuys Adult Health Center. STI screenings and services are available at all health centers. All services are provided in a confidential and personal setting, and include:
- Out-patient HIV treatment
- Coordination of care, including the latest drug therapies, treatments and referrals to clinical trials
- AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP)
- Services for transgender individuals
- Nutritional review and consultation
- Dental care
- Behavioral health care
- Community resources & referrals upon request
- Transportation assistance
- HIV counseling and testing

The number of Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) diagnoses has been rising every year. In 2008, 1,210,523 Chlamydia infections were reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from the United States (US). Another 336,742 cases of gonorrhea were reported in the US, while the number of syphilis cases rose to 46,277.
Northeast Valley Health Corporation (NEVHC) is fighting against the spread of STIs. We know how important testing and treatment are. We have designed our services to help individuals manage STIs with the least stress to them and their loved ones.

All services are provided in a confidential and personal setting and include:
- Diagnosis and Treatment for:
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhea
- Genital Warts
- Syphilis
- Herpes
- Trichomoniasis
- HIV
- Prescription of antibiotics or antivirals when indicated
- Contraceptive Education and Distribution
- Safe Sex/Risk Reduction Education
These services are offered at our six primary health care centers, as well as our HIV, homeless and school-based health centers. Rapid HIV testing is available on our Mobile Unit.S
We provide all services on a sliding fee scale to financially qualified clients.
