Understanding National Health Center Week
National Health Center Week (NHCW) is an annual celebration held in the second week of August to recognize the vital role that community health centers play in providing high-quality, accessible healthcare to millions of people. To increase awareness of America’s 1,400+ Community Health Centers, NHCW highlights their contributions to improving health outcomes and reducing healthcare disparities amongst underserved communities.
Our theme for National Health Center Week, “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections,” highlights NEVHC’s commitment to fostering supportive relationships in our community. This theme is reflected in our planned events that will showcase our dedication to providing public service information and enrollment, advancement in healthcare for patients experiencing homelessness, and connecting families to resources and immunizations. Through these events, NEVHC aims to demonstrate the power of caring connections in building healthier communities.

Community Resource Center Open House
Mobile Health Center Unveiling
We invite you to our Mobile Health Center Unveiling on August 7, 2024! It will include a short program led by NEVHC executives, and attendees will tour the new unit.
The new mobile health center will replace the current mobile unit that has been operating since 2007. It will continue to focus services on patients experiencing homelessness and feature advanced equipment that is typically only available inside of a traditional health center.

Northeast Valley Health Corporation was incorporated in 1971 by a group of San Fernando Valley civic leaders who envisioned establishing a healthcare system that catered to the medical needs of the local community. They opened San Fernando Health Center in 1973 and celebrated its dedication with the late U.S. Senator Ted. Kennedy. Today, NEVHC has grown to 14 health centers in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys and continue to serve the uninsured and the medically underserved patients with limited financial resources. Nearly 70,000 patients receive medical, dental and behavioral health care at our health centers every year. NEVHC, one of the nation’s largest community health centers, is a nonprofit Joint Commission accredited Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
